Drought and the Fall-like Fair forecast

This morning, the U.S. Drought Monitor released their latest update to the drought conditions for the nation, and of course for Kansas.  Please note the data cut-off was Tuesday morning but even so, the rains from the past two days probably won't make a huge change to this map by the next update release.

Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport is up to 0.62" of rain through 5 p.m. while Jabara Airport has 0.33".  Watch those roadways this evening on the commute home, as we've had a few accidents across town.  And as KDOT reminded everyone this afternoon, if you're running your windshield wipers, it's state law: turn on the headlights too.

Changing gears, I want to thank everyone who stopped by the KWCH booth at the Kansas State Fair the last couple of days.  I got to chat with a number of folks who were very excited about the rainy forecast.  A few of you had comments and suggestions about our maps, a few of you asked about my folks and oh, about 90% wanted to know where Millie was.  Thanks for taking time out of your State Fair day to stop by.  If you are heading back before the Fair closes down, enjoy the much cooler forecast!
